The strength of a portrait design is in the way the people
act with each other in the painting, or with the viewer. I
try and bring out the human warmth and vitality of the subject
and to also the feeling the commissioner has for this person.
This makes the portrait, feel timeless and alive

Portraits can be taken from either pre existing photograph,
or from shots that I take of the subject. Although it is not
necessary, I prefer to have the opportunity to interpret the
character and feeling of the subject first hand, but pre existing
photographs are just as fine- usually if a professional has
taken them. In this situation I would require a few different
shots to help understand the persons features.
Vary slight adjustments are made in the process from transferring
a photograph to a hand painted canvas. This is to compensate
for the subtle distortions the camera lense may have created.
The average pricing ranges from $3,000.00 to $8,000.00 depending
on the number of people and the complexity of the background.
This example (left) is valued at $4,600.00. (Canadian dollars)
